Windows vs. Ford

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, Ford issued a press release stating
:

If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day.

2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3... Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4.... Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5..... Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.

6...... The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light.

I love the next one!

7....... The airbag system would ask,
"Are you sure?" before deploying.

8........ Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9......... Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10.......... You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call "customer service" in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!

Please share this with your friends who love - but sometimes hate - their computer!

A chat with Jesus

Many times when I am troubled or confused, I find comfort in sitting in my back yard and having
a vodka and cranberry along with a quiet conversation with Jesus.
This happened to me again after a particularly difficult day. I said…"Jesus, why do I work so hard?"
And I heard the reply: "Men find many ways to demonstrate the love they have for their family.
You work hard to have a peaceful, beautiful place for your friends and family to gather."
I then asked …"I thought that money was the root of all evil?"
And the reply was: "No, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Money is a tool which can be
used for good or bad."
I was starting to feel better, but I still had that one burning question, so I asked…..
"Jesus, what is the meaning of life and why am I here?"
He replied: "That is a question many men ask. The answer is in your heart and is different for
everyone. I would love to chat with you some more, señor…..but for now...
I must finish your lawn."

Public Policies

What public policies may you expect after what you have seen in these ten days?

The first ten days of the Presidential campaign even though they represent a very short period of time to do a balance, according to some people, for others it is the opposite, due to the richness of elements that the four candidates have provided Us in few days.

Whatever your position is, in my point of view I think that what we have seen during this week and a half would be enough to reach some conclusions, from which it will be hardly difficult to differ from the ones we can make before July the 1st.

The victory will be, without a doubt for Enrique Peña Nieto; Vazquez Mota and Lopez Obrador will embroil themselves I a battle for the 2nd place which will be far away from the 1st place.

In terms of public policies, it is convenient to be seriously and carefully analyzing the commitments that Peña Nieto signs because they will rule his government and they will define his governmental plan. He also must follow the proposals made by Quadri, not because the percentage that he will get in the elections, which will be very small, but because the provocative way of doing them, it is convenient for Peña to follow Quadri’s proposals, the candidate from PANAL.

Do not hesitate that a great part of his proposals and the ones he does not make in the following weeks count with the sympathy of most of the people surrounding Peña, their vision is frankly to support the opening of the markets and the up to date of our outdated legal scaffolding and Quadri’s proposals and ideas go, most of them in the same direction.

Against this “bipolar” background what public policies do you think Peña will promote as President of Mexico? May some of the issues, the ones you are mostly interested in will be touched?

I propose you something very simple, make a list of the issues in which you are interested in and describe as briefly as possible, the idea you have on the topic, then check Peña’s commitments and Quadri’s proposals, compare them in order to know what to expect.

If what you think of one topic or the other matches with Peña´s proposal great, but if it does not be prepared because there will be a hard and complex lobbying work.
